Ballyclare Primary School
The Primary, as the school is often affectionately known, at the heart of the community on this site from its erection in 1880, was originally known as the Ballyclare Male and Female National School. The site of the previous "No 1" and No 2 Schools" was in "Fair Green", (the Square) beside the local pound, on premises occupied today by Woodside's shop.
Ballyclare Primary has therefore a rich, historical heritage and a fine, educational tradition. Many people who have gone on to develop distinguished careers in business, community work, education, medicine, religion, politics and sport to highlight a few, look back with appreciation to their early days as pupils of the school.
